Founded in 1992, Red Star Music initially operated under the “Red Star Production Cooperative” label, successfully launching the careers of numerous outstanding mainland musicians such as Zheng Jun, Xu Wei, Tian Zhen, Xiao Ke, the Watchers of the Wheatfield, and the Paradise Band, and releasing classic albums including *Naked*, *Elsewhere* *Tian Zhen*, *Xiao Ke*, *The Watchers of the Wheat Fields*, *Loving the Dust*, and *Red Star No. 1*. Thanks to its unique focus on original rock music, it became a legendary independent music label in the history of Chinese pop music. In 2004, it was acquired by Taihe Maitian. In 2018, Taihe Music Group revived the Red Star Music label; and in 2019, it launched the “Youth Red Star” music initiative, dedicated to promoting the development of youth music and shaping the future of Mandarin-language pop music.
