Wheat Field Music was founded in 1996. Early signings included Lao Lang, Pu Shu, and Ye Bei, among others. The “Red, White, and Blue” album series by Ye Bei, Pu Shu, and Yin Wu was one of the label’s early successes. Due to its humanistic ethos, Wheatfield Music is regarded as an idealistic component of the mainland pop music landscape; it became a spiritual sanctuary for a generation of young people and a vital force during an era when original music was flourishing. On July 26, 2018, the Maidian Music label made a comeback, with renowned musician Lao Lang serving as its head. The label has signed artists with distinctive creative personalities and launched a variety of cross-genre, diverse music projects and artistic events. The reborn Maidian Music will continue to play a significant role in the original music industry, distinguished by its strong humanistic ethos and commitment to originality.
