2023/12/01

On November 16th, Dai Tsuen's brand new 2023 album "Ballad of Bones", which took three years to create, went online, revealing the "bones" that he has been focusing on and adhering to for the past ten years - a unique Chinese temperament and self-confidence, and even more so, the core of his own attitude. The album reveals the "wind and bones" that he has been focusing on and insisting on for the past ten years - the unique spirit and self-confidence of the Chinese nation, as well as his own core attitude towards life, which is as free and unrestrained as the breeze, and as tough and unyielding as the bones. This album can be regarded as a stage-by-stage summary of Dai's music style in this decade, a reflection on the past and an assertion of the spirit of national culture passed on through music, and a new beacon for Dai's musical journey.

The Ballad of Wind and Bone" combines diverse and innovative elements to form a magnificent historical scroll, in which there are Jianghu warriors, literati, emperors and prime ministers, marketplace characters, myths and legends, as well as women heroes ...... They are the soul of the Chinese nation, and are the bones of the nation inherited from the same lineage!

The first time the bones of the boy "green shirt Lei Lu

The first round of the "Green Shirt Lei Luolu" is a young man of style and righteousness, who does not ask for a return trip and loves to get away.

In the martial arts world of Chinese literature, there is no lack of typical young heroes such as Shi Bitian ("Chivalry") and Xuzhu ("Eight Parts of the Dragon"), who acted in a bright and open-minded manner, and had a clear sense of right and wrong, and in the opinion of Dai Tsuen, these qualities are the embodiment of the positive values of the youth of China. As the saying goes, "When the youth is strong, the country is strong", and young people who are full of courage and righteousness will be able to take up great responsibilities. This song invited young musicians to cooperate to create a radical style of electronic music, fusion of classical Chinese instrumental music, full of challenges and freshness, as the young heroes that unconventional, heroic and unrestrained temperament.

The Second Inheritance of Bones The Ballad of Bones

The heart of a gentleman with ink and brush is open, the sword and the hero are resounding, and the lofty spirit and mighty wind do not fear danger, and the clanking iron bone shines in the sky.

The first half of the song incorporates poems written by several historical figures such as Emperor Wu of Han Dynasty, Fan Zhongyan, Cao Cao, Wang Wei, Li Bai, and so on. Though their identities and dynasties are different, their interpretations of "bones of the wind" are very representative and meaningful, leaving the world with a stunning piece of writing. The music in the second half of the show is not only an attitude of faith in the bones of the wind, but also an initiative to promote the inheritance. China's thousands of years of age, so that the spirit of the bones more thick and full, it is not only tough and strong, but also free and frank, both the literati gentleman's unyielding and upright, but also the fearlessness of the generals and chivalrous heroes. Nowadays, facing the world, standing straight and steady is the proper posture of the Chinese children, and the national bones of "clanking iron bones" and "accepting all rivers in the sea" are the qualities and spirits that are still worth passing on after this millennium. In the arrangement design, Liza Dai incorporated the Chinese drum and guzheng piece "Three Plum Blossoms", the plum is a winter flower, standing proudly in the cold wind, which echoes with the bones of the nation.

The third piece, "The Lonely City in the Smoke and Rain".

A year is a year, a year is a year, an ink stone, a paper, an ink verse, a lonely city, a land of smoke and rain, and the wind and the soft bones of the heart are you.

This song was inspired by Su Shi and his third wife, Chao Yun, from the first time they met, Su Shi wrote the famous "light makeup and thick smear is always appropriate", to "willow on the branches of blowing and less, the end of the world, where there is no fragrant grass" of the sobbing, Chao Yun all the way to accompany Su Shi, experienced the most stormy ups and downs in life, and was sentenced to imprisonment in the United States for the first time. The Chaoyun accompanied Su Shi all the way through the most stormy and turbulent relegation to Huangzhou, and finally died at a young age when he was relegated to Huizhou. Chaoyun was the person who understood Su Shi the most, and the two were soul mates, a love that touched Dai Quan's heart. The song unfolds in a time and space interlaced state, more interspersed with the understanding and imagination of the two men's emotions, scenes, images, people, things, events, as if a post-apocalyptic dream, a glance of 10,000 years, the vicissitudes of the sea and the earth. ...... music design to invite the new musicians to jointly create the psychedelic, folk music, electronic combination into a cyberpunk style, creating The psychedelic, folk music and electronics are combined into a cyberpunk style to create a feeling of crossing the ancient and modern worlds and intertwining time and space, so that the touching and regrettable together with the love of the two of them will be crushed in the music.

The fourth time, "The Carved Flower Building" is a timeless piece of music.

Sitting alone in front of the building in a dream a whole world of gazing at one another, a world of love, a world of frost and splendor, a world that is hard to carve, a world that is broken by the winds of dust, a world that knows where to gather and part.

The Sculpted Flower Building on the West Mountain of Taihu Lake in Suzhou is the source of this song. After an unintentional visit, Dai Tsuen marveled at how more than 3,000 exquisite carvings, none of them identical, could be blended in a treasure house with hundreds of twists and turns. Being there, it was like a world away, so Dai Luan lingered on, even at sunset, still unwilling to leave. Especially learned that this building builder for the South Song anti-Jin general Xu Huiyin donated his life and died, admiration is born, sadness and sadness of spring and autumn feelings also came to mind - "not see last year's people, tears full of spring shirt sleeves," "I miss not see Izumi Tears, the end of the world look forward to the return of the king" ...... this deep courtyard in the path, and how many nine twists and turns, tearful stories? Dai Tsuen in the song into the kunqi singing and pronunciation, more highlights the carving of the building location - Suzhou, as the "hometown of kunqi" charm.

The fifth chapter of the Eight Precepts.

The Eight Precepts is a demon, a commander, a general, and a cultivator, and it's hard to be at a loss, but it's a dream, and it's a beautiful sight to see.

If Dai Tsuen's "Wukong" in 2015 is unyielding, then "Eight Precepts" is unwilling. The Eight Precepts, although in his previous life he was the powerful Marshal of the Heavenly Puff, he was often teased, joked about and even insulted by the future generations, and in the novel, the Eight Precepts contain many shortcomings and greed, but also the reality of the human nature that everyone needs to face. The Eight Precepts had no choice but to be relegated to the mortal world and reincarnated as a pig, just as people can't choose their own birth and talent. Both nature and destiny, all the way by the Wukong such a role to cover the light, until the end of the fruit, and why should this be laughed at and mocked? In life, some people are Wukong, some people are the eight precepts, each has a time of light, but also hard to escape the dark moment. The world always likes to judge people by their appearance, and judge heroes by their success or failure, but even if you are a mortal, you can still acquire a body of unwillingness, and have your own scenery and respect. From Wukong to Wuneng, it is also a musical practice for Dai Quan.

The Sixth Bone of the Wind transmigrating people "Skin

The beauty of a good time makes people obsessed, but a skin bag is all empty, the flick of the finger does not ferry people, but the wind and bones are finally realized.

This is a short story from the Buddhist scriptures. On a rainy day, the monk Tanshan and a friend were walking along a muddy path. On the way, the two met a beautiful woman who was unable to cross that muddy path because she was wearing a silk cloth garment with a silk sash. So without saying a word, Monk Tambu carried the woman across the path, set her down, turned around and continued on his way. Along the way the daoist was muffled, but finally pressed on and asked, "We monks don't get close to women, especially young and beautiful women, that's dangerous, why did you do that?" Tanshan looked at his daoist friend in surprise, "What, that woman? I put it down a long time ago, are you still holding on to it?" This was the chance for Dai Tsuen to write this song, what he considered to be the values of simplicity, lightness, spontaneity, and letting go of the bones. The song has been specially adapted from the Wu song (Suzhou folk tune) "The Knowing Guest" as an interlude, and the gentle and soft melody is more reminiscent of the unique temperament in the story.
