Hong Peiyu's brand new album lead single 'Including But Not Limited To' is now online, and her second solo album 'Open' is about to be released.

2025/09/24

Hong Peiyu surprises fans all the way through, revealing two major pieces of good news at once by the end of 2025: her second solo album "Kai" is about to be released, and she will hold her first large-scale ticketed concert at Taipei Pop Music Center on December 6.
Her first single of the month, "Not Taking Up Space," immediately captured the hearts of music fans, climbing the charts of digital music platforms, receiving high praise from many critics and listeners. On the 23rd, the second lead single, "Including But Not Limited To," was released. Unlike her previous ballad style, this new song is an upbeat dance track, also a song Hong Peiyu had wished for: "A song that, as soon as you hear it, makes your body want to dance." Now that the wish has come true, she laughed and said, "I really like listening to K-pop, or any type of music that instinctively makes me want to dance. When I received this song, I felt it was a great choice. Even at the demo stage, it already made the team members eager to dance. I’m curious about what kind of sparks will come after the production." Fans are looking forward to the new song stunning them once again.
"Including But Not Limited To" can be described as a catchy yet healing song, co-composed by the versatile musician Yu Honglong and Jocelyn 9.4.0, who was recently nominated for Best New Artist at the Golden Melody Awards. The lyrics come from the creative genius Wu Qingfeng, blending wit and emotion perfectly, helping those who have endured and been confused in unhealthy relationships to dispel lingering illusions of love. Wu Qingfeng stated: "When I received Peiyu's invitation, as a fan of Peiyu, I had lots of imagination, considering all the delicacy in her voice. I didn’t expect to receive a dynamic dance track. I tried to blend her delicate traits with a refreshing rhythm, aiming to explore the rebellious side buried deep in her bones, which is often masked by gentleness... All of this was previously hard to imagine!"

Collaborating with Wu Qingfeng for the first time, the lyrics cleverly use legal terminology as a symbol: the meaning of life, including but not limited to a person, a relationship, or several setbacks. Hong Peiyu happily exclaimed, “Working with Qingfeng this time felt like participating in an awakening conference, and as a fan, getting a peek behind the scenes was truly thrilling…” She further described, “Qingfeng’s words are like a huge salt lamp, continuously purifying some past negativity at a deep level, while also emanating an increasingly calm and clear aura, giving more confidence and courage for the present moment and the future yet to come.”
Interestingly, there’s a cute little story behind *Including but Not Limited to*: during recording, one of the producers, Starr Chen, proactively mentioned wanting to deliver the master early because his child was about to be born; MV director Chris Rudz also said he wanted to submit the MV early, coincidentally for the same reason—his child was about to be born—and he hoped that this song, filled with the energy of new life, could help listeners turn the page on the bad stories in their lives! Meanwhile, when Wu Qingfeng and the album’s lyrics and project coordinator Wang Xiaomiao were revising the lyrics, the two worked line by line on LINE, instantly making multiple versions whenever there was a question. After completing the entire song, Wang Xiaomiao sent it back to Wu Qingfeng with the remark, “Are you AI? It feels like I’m talking to AI…” which was quite amusing.

The lyrics describe people who have endured unhealthy relationships and felt confused, as they try to drive away lingering illusions of love. Curious about whether anyone has ever endured an unhealthy relationship? Hong Peiyu candidly admitted, 'I have, but not only in romantic relationships.' She further shared her thoughts: 'Many times, that spell disappears in a moment of change in perspective. It is very much like a game rule—if you don’t play the game, the game disappears. I think staying clear-headed in life is very difficult, but once you see a loophole in the rules of the game, you can be freed.'
The collaboration between Hong Peiyu and producers Starr Chen and Morrison Ma is equally groundbreaking. To evoke a voice that tingles the heart, Starr Chen once excitedly jumped onto the recording studio table and guided Hong Peiyu through a clear-headed hypnosis: 'You are now a soul singer with dreams of releasing an album, but no one is helping you release it. You are standing in the darkest corner of the stage singing harmonies, yet you are wearing a purple sequin dress that shines brightly, everyone can see you are there, and your boyfriend has come to see your performance today.' Surprisingly, this unorthodox recording method worked, allowing Hong Peiyu to sing with a strength and beauty even she had never imagined: 'When he painted that vivid picture for me, I personally felt it was wonderful. In an instant, it connected to a certain spirit of the song, fitting perfectly. Starr’s guidance truly gave me a lot of encouragement and strength.'

The music video (MV) was directed by Polish director Chris Rudz, who previously filmed dance MVs for Japanese singer Fujii Kaze. In the MV, Hong Peiyu takes on her first challenge of singing and dancing in a project! The choreography was a collaboration with Japanese choreographer Chikako Takemoto. Through dance imagery, it depicts the process of breaking free from layers of entrapment. Hong Peiyu gradually developed better chemistry with the Japanese professional dancers, successfully completing the choreography in a seamless shot. At the end of the MV, her back turns as she leaves the studio without looking back, revealing the strong back muscles that come from years of hard training as a dancer, embodying the courage of this song and redefining the power of pink.
The MV is certainly eye-catching! Hong Peiyu not only showcases her exquisite dance skills but also appears with blonde hair, wearing a corset that hints at a touch of sensuality. In the past, her dance performances were mostly in theaters, but this time it was combined with pop music. Regarding the differences in body expression between the two styles, she explained: "The difficulty level is definitely different because it’s a different dance style. I didn’t have much experience with pop dance before, so the biggest challenge this time was the short learning time. I was actually quite nervous, but the choreographer was very kind, and the instructions were very clear, so it was a very refreshing learning process."

This time the performance was exhilarating. Are you considering a dance music album in the future? Hong Peiyu doesn't set limits: 'I think a dance music album depends on fate, because collecting songs is very difficult (laughs). But if I successfully gather songs that I also feel are ‘wow, amazing!’ and really want to share, I think that could be a sign that the day has come, and I would also look forward to that day.'
